SILVERCHEF warrants its ‘Certified Used’ and clearance equipment against any critical faults or failures resulting from defects in workmanship or material, under normal use.


This parts-and-labour warranty — which applies to purchased, rented or leased equipment — is valid for three months from the rental- or lease-agreement start date or equipment-purchase date (whichever applies).

If your equipment develops a covered fault within this timeframe, we'll repair or replace it, or refund you.

New equipment warranties

The information on this web page is exclusively about SilverChef’s Certified Used and clearance equipment warranties.  

If your rental or lease equipment was new when you got it, chances are it’s covered by at least a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

If it becomes defective within its warranty period, please contact the dealer who supplied the equipment.

Warranty claims

If your Certified Used or clearance equipment develops a fault within the three-month warranty period, you can lodge a warranty claim with us.

Before lodging a claim


Before lodging a claim, we recommend you check out our troubleshooting tips to see whether the fault can be quickly and easily fixed by you.

(If we send a technician to a customer’s business and the fault turns out to be a user error, they’ll be liable for the callout cost — something we want you to avoid.)

Claim process

1. Lodgement

The customer completes online warranty form or calls us on 1800 816 621. We ask them for information about the equipment, including a description of the defect

2. Assessment

Either SilverChef or one of our agents visits the customer’s business premises (weekdays, 8.30am to 4.00pm) to assess whether the fault is covered by the warranty.

3. Decision

After the equipment has been assessed — typically within one business day — we notify the customer in writing whether their warranty claim has been accepted.

4. Repair, replacement or refund

Upon acceptance of the customer’s claim, SilverChef will repair or replace the equipment (like-for-like) and warrant it for an additional three months, or refund the customer in full.

Troubleshooting tips

Fridge, freezer, or refrigerated display

Not turning on?

Check:

  • equipment is switched on, and power cord is securely connected to the outlet and free from damage.

Not holding temperature or leaking water?

Check:

  • there's adequate ventilation around the motor
  • there are no heated objects touching / close to the equipment
  • equipment is designed to operate in your shop's ambient temperature
  • equipment settings are correct (temperature, defrost cycle, etc.)
  • door seals are in good condition
  • there's no ice build-up on the evaporator (if necessary, defrost)
  • thermostat is in the right position on the equipment.

Ice machine

Not turning on?

Check:

  • equipment is switched on, and power cord is securely connected to the outlet and free from damage.

Not producing ice?

Check:

  • water supply is connected, turned on and free from damage
  • there are no heated objects touching / close to the equipment
  • equipment settings are correct (temperature, defrost cycle, etc.)
  • there's adequate ventilation around the motor
  • door seals are in good condition
  • equipment is designed to operate in your shop's ambient temperature.

Ice cream machine

Not turning on?

Check:

  • equipment is switched on, and power cord is securely connected to the outlet and free from damage.

Not producing ice cream?

Check:

  • equipment settings are correct (temperature, defrost cycle, etc.)
  • there's adequate ventilation around the motor
  • equipment is designed to operate in your shop's ambient temperature
  • correct ice-cream mixture is being used.

Granita machine or drink dispenser

Not turning on?

Check:

  • equipment is switched on, and power cord is securely connected to the outlet and free from damage

Not holding temperature?

Check:

  • correct mixture and settings are being used
  • there's adequate ventilation around the motor
  • there are no heated objects touching / close to the equipment
  • equipment is designed to operate in your shop's ambient temperature
  • equipment settings are correct (temperature, defrost cycle, etc.)
  • door seals are in good condition
  • there's no ice build-up on the evaporator (if necessary, defrost).

Coffee machine

Not turning on?

Check:

  • equipment is switched on, and power cord is securely connected to the outlet and free from damage
  • water supply is securely connected and turning on.

Leaking water?

Check:

  • drain is connected to the waste point and free from blockages
  • water-supply hose is free from damage
  • group head seals are in good condition.

Dishwasher

Not turning on?

Check:

  • equipment is switched on, and power cord is securely connected to the outlet and free from damage.

Not cleaning properly?

Check:

  • water supply is connected, turned on and free from damage
  • chemical supply is connected and free from damage
  • wash and rinse arms are in good condition and free from blockages
  • dishes are stacked properly
  • wash tank is clear from any waste build-up

Leaking water?

Check:

  • water supply is connected and free from damage
  • all seals are in good condition.

Blender, mixer, or countertop appliance

Not turning on?

Check:

  • equipment is switched on, and power cord is securely connected to the outlet and free from damage.
  • the safety switches are being used correctly.

Not working correctly?

Check:

  • equipment's been assembled correctly after cleaning
  • blades are assembled in the correct position
  • all components are in good condition.

Combi oven or convection oven

Not turning on?

Check:

  • equipment is switched on, and power cord is securely connected to the outlet and free from damage.

Not operating correctly?

Check:

  • water supply is connected, turned on and free from damage
  • equipment's been assembled correctly after cleaning.

Leaking water?

Check:

  • drain is connected to the waste point and is free from blockages.

Gas-cooking equipment

Not turning on?

Check:

  • gas is connected and turned on
  • burners are clean and clear from debris.

Not holding temperature?

Check:

  • thermostat is in the right position
  • all components have been assembled correctly after cleaning.

Warranty exclusions

The three-month warranty covering Certified Used and clearance equipment excludes faults or damage to, or arising from, for example:

✖ glass or plastic components

✖ spills

✖ parts subject to wear and tear (e.g. filters, fuses, heating elements, lamps, batteries, handles, locks, hinges)

✖ incorrectly installed or operated equipment

✖ extraordinary or unforeseeable events (e.g. electrical power surges or fluctuations, natural disasters)

✖ improper use of cleaning agents or chemical additives

✖ unauthorised equipment modifications

✖ carelessness, negligence or use other than that for which the equipment is designed

✖ equipment damaged in transit after being collected by the customer

✖ equipment serviced by an unqualified person.

Installation and repairs

If necessary, customers must get their equipment professionally installed as per the manufacturer’s installation manual.

If they don’t, there’s a risk they’ll damage the equipment and void its warranty.

Customers whose equipment develops a fault within the warranty period must obtain our permission before ordering or carrying out any repairs to the equipment. Otherwise, the equipment warranty could be voided.
