Survivors R Us is a not-for-profit charity based in New South Wales, founded in 2017 to support survivors of domestic violence, homelessness, and unemployment. The organisation provides critical services such as food hampers, dignity bags, clothing, and counselling to those in need.
“Our mission is simple: to support anyone in our community who needs help. Whether its families escaping domestic violence or individuals struggling to make ends meet, we’re here to help,” says Ann-Maria Martin, CEO and Founder.
Through programs like Hearty Starts, a twice-weekly hot breakfast service, Survivors R Us provides meals to over 500 disadvantaged individuals each month. The organisation also runs a food bank in partnership with OzHarvest, supporting an additional 360 people monthly.
“We don’t turn anyone away. Our focus is on giving people the basic support they need to rebuild their lives,” explains Martin.
In 2022 alone, Survivors R Us supported more than 12,000 clients, and they are on track to meet similar numbers this year.
After receiving a SilverChef Community Grant valued at $5,000 AUD, Survivors R Us purchased essential kitchen equipment, including a pie warmer, stainless-steel bench, and a bench with a cupboard.
“This grant has allowed us to continue our breakfast program more efficiently than ever, ensuring we can always meet the growing demand,” says Martin.
With the support of this grant, Survivors R Us continues to expand its vital programs, offering hope and practical assistance to vulnerable individuals and families in their community.
