Allan English is the founder and Managing Director of Silver Chef Ltd. 
The idea for Silver Chef was born when Allan was at a trade show in 1985. Convinced of the pizza delivery market’s potential for growth in Australia he and business partner invested heavily in conveyor ovens. It soon became clear that the ovens were too expensive for many business owners and so the concept of renting out the equipment was born.
Over the past two decades Allan has injected much innovation into the company and loves nothing more than to hear success stories from customers who have grown their businesses because of Silver Chef.
Allan’s achievements include being awarded the 2006 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year for Silver Chef’s Rent-Try-Buy® Solution and listing Silver Chef on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2005.
Allan is also heavily involved in an international not-for-profit organisation called Opportunity International which provides small business loans to entrepreneurs in developing countries. He describes his involvement with Opportunity International as providing his drive for success and purpose in his life.
Originally from Perth, Allan lives in Brisbane with his wife and three children. He enjoys keeping active and rides to work most days.
