Silver Chef Limited currently has over 400 hospitality equipment dealers accredited across Australia.
From time to time new dealers are added, but at this stage it would be fair to say that we have a working relationship with the majority of the key players in each city, state and territory.
We certainly value every one of our Dealer relationships.
What has become apparent to me is that there are currently three distinct “types” of hospitality equipment Dealers in the market. They are:
- The hospitality equipment importer and RETAILER, sometimes combined with a stainless steel manufacturing business. A number of retailers have developed their own brands of equipment or stainless steel benching, some are generic products rebadged others truly unique offerings.
- The BUNNINGS model, where you can buy everything from a spatula to a combi oven to paper napkins under one roof, AND
- The DESIGNERS, who focus on the design and project management of new hospitality outlets, source the equipment and manage a team of sub contractors.
On a recent trip to Queenstown with our top 15 Dealers, we had a good mix of RETAILERS, DESIGNERS and BUNNINGS model adopters. A hospitality equipment business can be successful in any one of the forms. What I am watching with interest is which model will prosper over the next few years.
